The Epiphany of the Lord
Sometimes it is hard to see the stars in the sky. Physically, I have the light pollution of the city, but spiritually, I have anxiety, busyness, or being overwhelmed, which all cloud my vision. This past year has been one of my most difficult – except for one thing – the wise women and men who see my star for me.
It is just the usual things that are causing the stress – job, money, time, and such. However, what has been unusual is the text messages, the calls, the friend that stops by my house, and the out of nowhere small, or even large means of help. It seems that every time that I had lost hope in the promise of God’s plan of sheer goodness for me, a friend would text me that I came up in her prayer that day. It was constant. Even at 11pm on Christmas Eve, a priest friend texted that he would pray for me at Midnight Mass.
For most of 2025, I have not been able to clearly see the plan of God, but I have been able to see His providence in the oddest ways. 2025 has been the year of tears and awe – tears of so much sorrow and fear – and awe in the small resolutions that have followed.
Imagine the Magi, those wise men who followed a star that no one else seemed to see; what they saw was an act of seeing for all of humanity. Trusting what they saw, it drove them to act, which was for all of us as well. Then they found Him, the Christ Child, knowing He was the new King.
Epiphany is about seeing, trusting, acting, and finding.
If you cannot presently see the star of God’s plan before you, then let the wise women and men in your life point you to it. Trust the providential moments of God sending messages through others. Act, even though your vision may seem cloudy. Then, find. Somehow His plan is presenting itself to you. Perhaps it is in the quiet of the night, when the star of the Magi finds you, and places you right next to the Christ Child. In His small hands, He holds the whole plan of your life!
Prayer
Jesus, please allow the wise women and men to lead me more closely to you.
