WINE stands for Women In the New Evangelization

Is this about drinking?
Wine has a depth of meaning in our faith. We like to play around with the name and have fun with the acronym (Women, WINE and Wisdom, Read Between the WINEs book clubs, etc…) but wine was and is serious business in our Catholic faith. Our early ancestors relied on wine for sustenance and health, and of course Christ chooses wine to be his blood in the sacrifice of the Holy Mass. To us, WINE: Women In the New Evangelization finds its inspiration in Scripture and the Eucharist. The Blessed Mother’s final words in Scripture take place at the sight of the first miracle, when Jesus turns water into wine. There Mary says, “Do whatever He tells you.” Those words ring true for us today as we strive to do the will of God. To understand better the essence of WINE: Women In the New Evangelization with respect to the beauty behind the acronym, read this beautiful and insightful article by Mary Lou McCall: Addiction and WINE: Women In the New Evangelization.

Why do I need WINE?
Lets face it, we probably all have said, “Gee I could use a glass of wine after a day like today”, but this kind of WINE will refresh you like no other. Like the women at the well, we are looking for the living water so that we will never thirst again. Women have a special desire to seek out ways to fill their spiritual life. WINE provides the tools, in the midst of our busy busy lives, to go deeper into your spiritual life and find the community that we so crave!

How does my parish benefit from WINE?
Does your parish need a jump start in it’s ministry? Bringing WINE to your parish will help to bring more women deeper into their faith and attract new women into ministries. Our work has all been approved by the diocese and you can trust that the resources we share are loyal to the magisterium. Although orthodox in our beliefs – we are innovative in our approach. In following St. John Paul the Great’s lead, WINE brings women into a relationship with Jesus Christ and empowers them to share with joy the message of the Gospel, and we do this in a new way—new in zeal, new in ardor, and new in method.
