WINE: Catholic Women’s Conference

February 10, 2018

Mary, Mother of the Church, Burnsville, MN

9:30 AM – 3:30 PM (but the doors open at 8:30 AM for coffee, shopping, & camaraderie)

WINE: Women In the New Evangelization invites women of all ages and stages to refresh their hearts at the WINE: Catholic Women’s Conference on February 10, 2018. The theme of this year’s conference, inspired by Hebrews 6:19, is Hope: An Anchor for the Soul.

Join women from across the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis (and all around the country) for a day of inspiration, faith, fellowship, and fun. The doors open at 8:30 AM, allowing time for registration, shopping, and coffee. The conference will begin promptly at 9:30 AM. Our keynote speakers will be Sr. Ann Shields, an internationally noted speaker, author, and member of the Servants of God’s Love charismatic religious community; Sonja Corbitt, Catholic scripture teacher, host of Bible Study Evangelista on Breadbox Media, and author of the WINE-recommended book Unleashed; and Jaime Thietten, Catholic musician, and storyteller.

The day will include praise and worship music, shopping, prayer, confession, adoration, holy humor, a fabulous lunch, CHOCOLATE, and an opportunity to celebrate 4:00 PM Mass with Archbishop Bernard Hebda. You will leave equipped to persevere in prayer, endure in affliction, and (as Pope Francis compels us) be beacons of hope to all those around you.

Meet Our Speakers

Sr. Ann Shields, S.G.L., is an internationally noted conference and retreat speaker and author of numerous books on Catholic spirituality including Deeper Conversion, To Be Like Jesus and More of the Holy Spirit. She hosts the popular daily radio program Food for the Journey.

She is a member of The Servants of God’s Love, a charismatic religious community established in the Diocese of Lansing, Michigan and is a member of the Diocesan Pastoral Council.

Sr. Ann was awarded the Benemerenti Medal by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012 for service to the Church and is a recipient of the Aggiornamento Award given by the Catholic Library Association in recognition of outstanding contribution for the renewal of parish and community life.

Sonja Corbitt is a dynamic Catholic author, speaker, and radio host who has produced several high-impact, uplifting multimedia Bible studies, including UnleashedSoul of the World, Fearless, and Ignite.

A Carolina native who was raised as a Southern Baptist, Corbitt attended Mitchell College and the Southern Baptist Seminary Extension and then converted to Catholicism. Corbitt served as director of religious education at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Gallatin, Tennessee, and as executive director of Risen Radio in Lebanon, Tennessee.

She is the host of Bible Study Evangelista on Breadbox Media. Corbitt is in formation as a Third Order Carmelite, a columnist at The Great Adventure Bible Study blog, a contributor to Magnificat, and the author of Unleashed. Her Bible study, Unleashed, was featured as a thirteen-part series on CatholicTV. A frequent guest on Catholic radio and television, she also wrote for the Gallatin News Examiner and Oremus, the Westminster Cathedral magazine. She lives in Tennessee with her husband, Bob, and two sons.

 Meet Our Musicians

A Pro-Life Advocate, Artist, Wife and Daughter with a powerful story about her journey to Pro-Life, her calling and her music ministry. Ultimately, the most endearing aspect of Jaime Thietten (pronounced Teet’n) is not so much about what she’s accomplished or her powerful soaring vocal abilities, but more about her heart and soul, her exuberant love of life and her passion for the world around her.

Raised in Twin Falls, Idaho, the second of three siblings, music quickly became her best outlet for self-expression. She started singing at 2, and performing solos publicly by 13. She soon discovered that through song, not only could she find meaning for her own life, but also inspire and encourage others.

Jaime uses her music to nurture those seeking forgiveness, to fill the hurting with hope,
and to encourage compassion among people everywhere. You may know her best, for her immensely powerful pro-life song, “My Chance,” which tells of a woman looking back at her one chance—the child they were going to name “Chance”—to have a baby. The song brings a compassionate and non-judgmental attention to an emotional trauma that can last a lifetime. Although she has never experienced an abortion herself, God has put upon her heart a passion to help those who have gone through this devastating experience to heal and find hope.

Vicki Kueppers

Vicki Kueppers learned how to harmonize with her three sisters at the age of five. After a start in musical theater, she went on to tour and record with her sisters with a big band. Vicki studied music in college and gained valuable experience during her time as Miss Minnesota. Since 1987, Vicki has been performing, touring and recording with the award-winning 5-voice vocal group, Voice Trek.

Caroline Metzinger

A native of Australia, Caroline studied classical and jazz voice at the Queensland University of Technology. She came to Minnesota in July 1996 to serve with NET Ministries for 4 years. It is there she met her husband Nathan. They were married in April 2000 at the Cathedral of Saint Paul, which is still their parish. They live in Woodbury with their 6 children. Caroline is also the founding member of the band Sonar, a Catholic band based in the Twin Cities which plays for youth events throughout the Midwest. Her instruments are voice, keyboard, and guitar.
