” I myself will pasture my sheep; I myself will give them rest!” ~Ezekiel 34:15

All is Calm

As a thick blanket of unexpected, new, and undisturbed snow silently covers the earth overnight, so too does the Feast of Christ the King of the Universe cause one who awakens to the Truth of it, to blink and stare into the brightness, breathing in the deep calm and unruffled order which connects everything. Without ambiguity, argument, or confusion, the whole earth succumbs, falls silent, and rests. Like it or not, all is calm and bright.

On this day, before I can stop it, my soul joins with all of creation. It yields to the strength of the calming Truth: Jesus Christ is Lord.

It falls down, prostrate, before the Christ, the King of the Universe.

Though many on earth scoff at such sentiment, writing it off as some vague spiritual platitude and professing little, if any, belief in a sovereign creator, still, Advent is about to begin.

Perhaps a brief science update will help us to help others, especially our youth, take another look at their faith.

The God Particle

Though statistics tell us that many of our young people today claim to be atheistic, the American Association for the Advancement of Science reports that 66% of all scientists, age 35 years and under, now declare themselves to be believers in a higher transcendent power. So do 76% of all doctors. Here’s why.

On July 4, 2012, scientists discovered the Higgs Boson Particle – often referred to as the God Particle. It forms a universal substance which covers all space, giving mass (form and substance) to and connecting everything on earth. Yes, everything. Without it, nothing exists. So when our teachers of the faith tell us that if we want to change the world, we simply have to change ourselves, scientific research backs them up.

“It seems,” says Robert Spitzer, SJ, Ph.D., priest, scientist, author, and lecturer, “that God is slowly lifting the veil.” Current scientific discoveries make it highly improbable that the universe could have simply morphed into existence. Nor could it have retained its exceedingly high order without a “Creator.” According to Father Spitzer, the odds of that happening are exactly identical to those of a monkey being able to type out the complete works of Shakespeare by the random tapping of keys without error in a single try.

All is Bright

Because of emerging evidence, mainstream science no longer denies the strong probability that the universe had a “beginning,” and consequently, a “highly intelligent transcendent creator” – stopping just short of calling that creator “God.”

In 2022, the New York Academy of Sciences also reported hard evidence from peer-reviewed medical studies for the existence of the trans-physical existence of each one of us – stopping just short of calling it a “Soul.”

It seems that science is starting to catch up with the Bible. On this Feast of Christ, the King of the Universe, let us rejoice – and rest. In the words of Saint John Paul II, “God came this far..and He stopped, very close to our eyes.” (Song of the Hidden God, poem, Karol Wojtyla)

Lord Jesus, King of the Universe, “Show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.” (Song of Songs 2:14)
