“The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who,
on finding one pearl of great value, went away and sold all that he had and bought it.”
~ Matthew 13:45

When was the last time you were moved to do something completely dramatic, almost theatrical, in your display to keep something of high value close to you? Was it a piece of jewelry you lost? Was it a cell phone or a laptop? Was it a piece of property, a home, or a family estate? Did you start to cry because you lost it? How far would you go to keep it? What did you do to get it back?

Think about today’s parable

The Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls, who then sells everything to buy them. I can guess that Jesus means nothing is more beautiful, satisfying, and rewarding than finding God’s perfect love. But what do you think?

Being in my early thirties, I have found myself in a season of life where I feel the pressure and need to prove myself. I need to have the job, the family, the marriage, the home, the “I’ve got everything together, and it’s perfect and I’m happy” look. But I have realized I am chasing all these things – as if they could satisfy me more than a deep relationship with Christ. So then I return to prayer and find I have everything I already need.

I truly have been given everything – and the Lord will always provide in His right time.
