In Hockey, when you’ve transgressed in the game, there is an immediate reparation – while you are off the ice, it is not just you who suffers the consequence of your actions but your whole team. The player wants to be back in the game and with his team – he may argue the call or the consequence, but having been catechized in hockey, he knows this is the way back into the game. This is how he is made right with the Ref, the team, and even himself.

Now consider this in light of sin and reconciliation. What a gift we have to be right with God, the Church, and ourselves – right away, no need to wait until Lent or it has been a year since your last Confession. You can go, immediately and receive the mercy of God. It is you at your best before the Divine Referee.

What Keeps You from the Sacrament of Reconciliation?
