“The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest” (LK 10:2).

As women in the new evangelization, we are called to evangelize, announce the good news, and invite others into a life changing encounter with God. At first glance, this mission may seem a bit overwhelming. However, in today’s gospel, we find a hope filled message for those who long to serve. The laborers in the Lord’s vineyard are never sent out alone! Like the seventy-two disciples sent forth in pairs, we stand united in faith with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Additionally, all are fortified, strengthened, and inspired by the name of Jesus and gifts of His Holy Spirit.

“Hear now, all you who fear God, while I declare what he has done for me” (PS 66:16).

About four years ago, I remember feeling the deep call of the Holy Spirit to testify to the amazing things God had done in my own life. Among this call came the divine instructions to write my story down. One fruit of this humble yes was my first book entitled, The Healing Eyes of Mercy. A Trinity of Love.  After three long years of intense prayer, writing, editing, and more prayer, I sent my final manuscript to Gregory Aymond, the Archbishop of New Orleans, for his review. One week later, he gave me a resounding thumbs up, along with a beautiful endorsement.

“In The Healing Eyes of Mercy: A Trinity of Love, Karen Schwaner Sheehy invites us into her life’s journey. In so doing, we can walk with her in faith, even in the dark times of life. She shares her experiences of God’s compassion, fidelity, and mercy. Her story reminds us of God’s incredible love and the ways he brings light into our darkness.” (Most Reverend Gregory M. Aymond, Archbishop of New Orleans)

Six months later, Kelly Wahlquist gave me a similar nod, referring to my book as “specialty WINE” due to its hope filled message of healing, mercy, and love. So go out, with joy filled hearts, my fellow sisters in Christ, and boldly testify to the marvelous things God has done in your own life. Christ calls, the Holy Spirit guides, and God, the Father, awaits our simple and humble, “yes.” Christ is calling. What is your response? Who has He sent to accompany you on this new journey? Share your responses below. Thank you and have a blessed day!
