I love this analogy. Each new day can give us a fresh start. It says that in the book of Lamentations.3:23 His mercies are new each day… Great is His Faithfulness. My Dad has always been a fresh start kind of person.. He is 88. He is famous for saying, “I can do it.. I will tell you why..[ and than he acts like a cheerleader jumping up and down waving his arms saying,] Because I have faith, hope and ENTHUSIASM!!” My 12 year old daughter asked me the other day if she should just give up her Lenten sacrifice because she failed.. I said, “Absolutely not, each new day is a fresh start, just tell The Lord that you are sorry and try again.” She just looked at me.. Maybe I will have a little talk with her on the mercies of God and the fresh starts that he always gives us..
Theresa, your reply is very encouraging as well. Your dad sounds awesome – I love that cheer!! I get very stuck in my mistakes and think I have ruined everything like my kids, our finances or even my overall health. BUT each day is new and opportunity to try again – I’ll still mess up but unlike my past, I know now God is with me and I’ve given it all over to him. Jesus has the wheel, and the brake, and the windshield wipers lol
Thank God for second chances.. and three and four!
Jesus is all about second chances. He invented the do-overs, the u-turns, the 360 degree turns. He wants what is best for us, if we but pay attention, and follow his lead.
A new life, full of endless possibilities, can only be lived fully with Jesus at the heart and center of it. Embrace all the goodness Jesus wants to bless on us.
Fascinating that today’s topic on my radio show was all about regrets. Holy Spirit rocks. Your comments are such affirmation to what I was sharing today – I can’t go back and change things so don’t live back there. JESUS is about second chances – and we can embrace those EVERY SINGLE day!! Amen Judy!
