Do I believe, or struggle with believing, in God’s unfailing love for me?
Yes, to both believing and struggling to believe. Intuitively, I grasp the concept. Pragmatically, I struggle with my worthiness. Yet every time I start questioning my worthiness, the Holy Spirit whispers into my heart, “Because I chose you. Accept my unfailing love as the gift you are to me.” If I’m worthy enough for God, then that’s all the proof I need.
Faith would not be faith if it were all clear and easily felt right. I love your reflection today! Thank you for being willing to share it with us everyday !
About 30 years ago, I was at mass in an old country church. It was the most glorious spring day! The birds were singing, the sun was actually warm, just a gift.
The priest’s sermon was about God’s love for us. He drew our attention to the amazingly beautiful day we were having, and said,
“God loves you so much, that if you were the only person on Earth, He would have created today just for you.”
I have kept those words in my heart ever since, I believe in his unfailing love, absolutely.
I don’t feel worthy of it, but I believe it. I am His, and He loves me, unconditionally.
This is lovely. I will remember this story. Thanks for sharing Mary.
