When Abram prostrated himself, God spoke to him. Genesis 17:3

In the Rite of Ordination, candidates for priesthood lie prostrate on the altar as a sign of total surrender to God.

During Lent, we are invited to surrender ourselves by praying, fasting, and giving alms.

But perhaps you and I might prostrate ourselves in a different way.

Is there someone you need to forgive, or someone to whom you need to confess a wrong?

How about resting on the altar of God’s mercy for a few moments?

Leave your bitterness there.

Perhaps, in the surrender, God may speak.
