Now, my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? “Father, save me from this hour? But it was for this purpose that I came to this hour.” John 12:27
In today’s Gospel, we see a troubled Jesus. He knows what is coming. He is about to suffer and die by crucifixion. Is he at peace with it? Not exactly. He’s troubled. But he is also sure of God’s calling on his life. When we pursue God’s will, feeling troubled sometimes is part of the destiny.
Following Jesus sometimes requires great sacrifice. But through prayer, our resolve will be firm. Like Jesus, we will know our purpose. And God will give us the strength to accomplish it.
