I will never forget you. Isaiah 49:15
When Jesus was dying on the cross, the scriptures tell us that he saw his mother and “the disciple whom he loved.” (John 19:25-27) The beloved disciple has been considered to be John. This image calls to mind the great love of our Lord. With nails piercing his hands and feet, Jesus spoke to his friend and said: Behold your mother.
We can easily miss how profound those words of Jesus were. In essence, Jesus was saying: “John, take good care of my mom.”
Today, try taking a moment to imagine the Lord looking down on you from the cross. Know that he understands all your worries and cares. Hear him say: “I will never forget you…”
How do these words speak to you?
