In LENT Reflections

Most every morning, I make myself a smoothie. While standing at the kitchen counter, I fill my blender with carrots, orange juice, frozen blueberries and spinach. When all the ingredients are blended together, it looks a little bit like green lava. But I’ve read that spinach is packed with folic acid which produces Serotonin. And Serotonin is great for overall wellness. It’s a mood elevator, sleep regulator, and a natural anti-depressant.

Most of know that taking care of ourselves is a good thing. Health experts tell us to eat fruits and vegetables, and to work out regularly.

But Jesus invites us into a routine of spiritual wellness.

This Lent, consider getting your spirit in shape. Each day, try blending together the fruits of the spirit; love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness faithfulness, meekness, self-control. (Galations5:22-23)

These “fruits” are good for you.

They’re packed with mood elevators!
