One summer morning as I pulled weeds from my garden, I noticed two deer standing just feet away from me, ears raised, and legs long and elegant. Every time I moved to a different patch of weeds, they followed me with graceful steps. I looked at them and they looked at me. For about a half hour, we shared the sacred silence of morning. Sometimes when we commune with God, we don’t need to exchange words.

During these Lenten days, slip away from the noise of life. Meet your Lord in a garden of stillness.
