At once the spirit drove him out into the desert, and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan. He was among wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him. (Mark 1:13)
Imagine Jesus in the desert for forty days and nights. As he wandered through the blistering heat, he was exposed to dust and sandstorms. It’s not a stretch to imagine him collapsing from exhaustion on the scorched land. Most likely, he felt pangs of loneliness. Yet, in today’s Gospel, Jesus shows us that the desert can be a beautiful place. Yes, the Lord battled Satan, but in the barrenness, angels ministered to his soul.
Are you in a parched and lifeless land? Wait for enlightenment. God’s angels will come.
