“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.” ~ John 3:16
This Easter season is a time to continually celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The death of death itself was gifted to us by the laying down of the life of Jesus, true God and true man. What we can never forget is that this celebration is intimately linked to the cross.
The love of the Trinity
Tintoretto’s painting, “The Trinity Adored by the Heavenly Choir,” reminds us of the great love that was present on the cross and is now present in our hearts. The Trinity is being adored by the heavenly choir, which I think is reflective of the adoration that we as humans on earth partake in. To be happy is to be in union with God, adoring Him. There is a reason why heaven is said to be a continuous praise and communal worshipping of God in the beatific vision. Adoring the Trinity is how to show and prove our love for God, as well as continually increasing that love.
Entering into that love
Pondering the love that is experienced between the Trinity is overwhelming at times. We must realize that we are able to partake in this love and enter it. Jesus Christ becoming man allows us to access and experience this love in a very human and bodily way. The suffering of Jesus displays the deep love that the Father has for us, so much that He sent His Son to die for us. His death was not in vain but brought God to man and man to God.
The perfection of love is in sharing in it, and we are called to share in it with the Trinity Itself. They want to invite us into that love and into that relationship so much that they come and make a home within us.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for giving us your only Son who loved us more than His own life. May our whole lives glorify You and be committed to loving You as You loved us.
Call to Action:
This Easter season, take a moment to notice God’s presence within us and how we can be a loving home for Him to live in eternally.
