“Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!” ~ 1 Corinthians 9:16
Woe to me if I don’t evangelize!
Jesus Christ came on a mission of love and truth. He came to redeem, rescue, and save us. The mission of the Redeemer has become our mission by divine mandate. Evangelization is a labor of love, a work of mercy – reflecting and revealing Divine Mercy in truth. Each must say “iEvangelize” – and woe if I don’t!
Evangelization is…
- Working with Christ to fulfill His mission
- Infusing the world with the Message of Jesus Christ
- Messaging or “gospelizing” the world – and every soul in it
- Being and bringing the Good News to others
- Revealing the truth –about God and man
- Being about my Father’s business, bringing people to the Father’s house – the Church, the Family of God
- Being light in the darkness – as “glow in the dark Christians”
- Rolling away the stone – revealing that Christ is Risen
- Raising the dead – in spirit and in mortal sin
- Feeding the hungry souls starving to be well fed and led – not misled and junk-food fed
- Planting the seed of Gospel truths – in all sorts of soil
- Watering and praying for growth – even if some weeds choke the seeds and plants
- Caring enough to help a soul on its way to eternity – because eternity matters
Evangelization is the loving thing to do
Indeed, it’s the God-like and God-mandated thing to do. We’re expected to evangelize – and are capable of doing so. When, where, and how varies depending on the evangelizer, the “evangelizee”, and the situation. Don’t overlook the obvious!
The “30 Ways iEvangelize” – explained in evangelization training workshops and talks I’ve developed and delivered – can become your way too. They’re natural and easy, overlap, and go hand-in-hand, though they are distinct in practice.
- Care – Smile – Talk – Share – Witness
- Invite – Listen – Ask – Preach – Teach
- Announce – Denounce – Profess – Proclaim – Believe
- Help – Give – Love – Dialogue – Explain
- Show – Tell – Welcome – Pray – Confess
- Befriend – Present – Serve – Include – Sow
These straightforward attitudes and stances are a good entry into the everyday behaviors of “everyday evangelized evangelizers” or missionary disciples. Small things make a big difference. They take us deeper into the waters to become “fishers of men” as we lower our nets for what I call an obedience-testing, vision-expanding, faith-stretching, trust-strengthening, team-building, space-enlarging, net-busting, boat-sinking miraculous catch with and for Christ. (cf. Lk 5)
Which of these pre-evangelization and evangelization attitudes and behaviors do you already use well? Which might you use more intentionally to be and bring Good News?
I pray you see yourself as an evangelizer—an eyewitness who has seen the Risen Lord and must tell everyone about it daily—and just do it!
Prayer:
Lord, may I evangelize whomever, whenever, however You choose daily, following in Your footsteps and those of Saint Paul and all great evangelizers so that all men might come to the knowledge of truth and be saved. Amen.
Call to Action:
Seek opportunities this week and every week after that to intentionally do 1-2-3 of these. You’ll love how you “LovEvangelize” as you Remember You Are Loved!

I love the title… it really makes me personally feel challenged to evangelize, as we are called to do!
